More than 100 local mobile food vendors, city and county health officials, and event organizers got together to launch the food truck season at the 2018 Food Truck Kick-Off Social at The Georgian Club. The event was hosted by the Food Truck Association of Georgia (FTAG). “This networking event was the first of its kind to unite all of the integral players in the industry,” said Tony Harrison, President of FTAG and owner of Cousins Maine Lobster.
Matt Geller, President of The National Food Truck Association (NFTA) was the keynote speaker. Geller has been instrumental in mobile food vending advocacy and legislative changes that foster growth for food truck owners in more than 20 cities including Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Dallas. “Food trucks must speak with one voice to promote positive legislative changes,” says Geller.
FTAG was founded to support Georgia based mobile food vendors to help make Georgia, particularly Metro Atlanta more food truck friendly. “We consistently hear from consumers that they love food trucks, yet there are many challenges that stand in the way of being able to bring our food to them,” said Curt Czajkoski, owner of Big C’s Chicago Kitchen. “Having already faced many of the same issues, Matt’s input helps focus our efforts in areas that we, as an association, can have the most influence.”
Geller also created BestFoodTrucks.com, a state of the art web-based food truck scheduling platform that is exclusively used by FTAG. FTAG now has over 40 members and is currently working on numerous objectives to promote mobile vending opportunities in Georgia.
